problems reaching google

Hi All,

We are experiencing problems reaching www.google.com (which is obviously
causing a lot of complaints). I'm hoping someone out here might offer some
recommendations.

We currently run two DNS servers, a primary and secondary. When we do an
nslookup for www.google.com we get the same reply for both servers:

Non-authoritative answer:
www.google.com canonical name = www.l.google.com.
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 64.233.161.104
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 64.233.161.147
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 64.233.161.99

So basically, Google is redirecting us to www.l.google.com which is
presumably for load balancing.

Now when we do an nslookup for www.l.google.com, we get:

Primary:
Server: 131.202.1.3
Address: 131.202.1.3#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 216.239.37.104
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 216.239.37.99

And for our Secondary:
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 64.233.161.104
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 64.233.161.147
Name: www.l.google.com
Address: 64.233.161.99

The problem arises that the 216.239.37.99 address above is unreachable for
us and hence the problems.

Another interesting fact is this is not just happening to our campus. We
share an internet link with other universities in our province, but we all
have our own dns servers. Many of the other campuses are reporting similar
problems in that one of their servers resolves to a rechable address, yet
the other does not.

I'm not sure if this is a DNS issue, or if this is a Google issue, I just
thought I'd check here.

Thanks for your time!
