I have a couple of suggestions;
1) You also might consider the fact that just because you don't see anything
/seemingly/ related in your log file(s). That is /not/ necessarily indicative that
in fact there isn't anything wrong with your current setup.

2)Reason being - you clearly need a better understanding of the wealth of logging
facilities that the BIND has to offer. Granted, for first timers it's a lot to digest all
in one go. But truth be told; the BIND's logging is your /best/ friend - not to mention
the doc's ;)
You'll find ways to get all the information you need from the BIND, and how to
eliminate the unnecessary "noise" ( which greatly aids in performance, and
resources). Sorry I don't just hand you a few lines to enter into your conf file.
But it wouldn't be in your best interest. Nor, could I best know (or anyone else)
what is optimal for your particular needs/environment.
 You should be able to find an html version of the ARM in /usr/share/doc, or
/usr/local/share/doc, or where ever it is that your flavor of OS keeps such things.
Likely in a folder/dir named bind9, bind94, or perhaps bind95.

Best wishes.
