It doesn't. I dimly remember a zombie problem on Digital UNIX 3.2.
In any case, the bug Mark fixed depends on waitpid() being called,
so the zombies aren't a result of waitpid() not being called. In
fact, waitpid() is returning -1 -- you might try to find out why.
