I believe defects are just as worthy as a security patch in many
contexts; getting the information out that there are better versions out
there for the release train you run is what this is all about.
Not all defects are advisories, and not all defects are benign. Some
defects prevent us from doing other newer things, because some version
of BIND 9 released 8 years ago would break. Also, as an admin I'd like
to know there are 10 more recent releases of BIND 9 than I run and what
those releases have in ways of defects. After all, even though I choose
not to update today, if I experience one at least I know what I need to do.
