In some specific cases I'd like to update the main description because
comments tend to be dismissed. We could introduce a rule like "be
sure to read all comments", but I'm personally afraid it's not really
effective.
On the other hand, I see the disadvantages you raised above. I'm not
sure what's the best middleground. If we can make it better via some
existing trac options or extensions, that would probably be the best.
If not, maybe introducing some filter for auto messages from trac? I
guess the format is predictable and it wouldn't be hard to write a
script to convert the full text of old and new versions to a diff.
