Comment:

 The original ticket was about a problem in the authoritative server, and
 this one seems to be about incorrect resolver behavior. Jeremy, if this is
 true then probably this needs to be extracted into a separate ticket and
 the one about DNAME-CNAME synthesis resolved. Please advise.
