 I have no problem of this idea, but I'm not sure if we want to
 implement all of these in this ticket; for the purpose of this
 original subject, we can begin with the original description,
 excluding the concept of "generation-id-mode" (auto is assumed).

 the "hidden" attribute and updates to bindctl can be done separately,
 some time before we finally release it.
