DNS Retries

I'm wondering if there has been any thought given to retries of DDNS 
updates for transient failures (dns server is reloading, network is 
temporarily a black hole, etc).

This is something that we're most likely interested in solving in some 
form, so I'm basically wondering if there are strong feelings about *how* 
it's implemented.
