Failover questions

>From some issues I'm seeing, a couple questions:
a) In the case that we don't receive a client ID from the failover peer
(ie, no client ID in the lease information), it seems like the server isn't
clearing any (ie old) uid information. Is there any objection to clearing
the uid field manually if the option isn't sent in an update?
Alternatively, should the server have a general function for cleaning up
the lease information as it moves from free/backup -> active?
b) I see that there is an 'XXX DDNS' comment in failover.c with respect
to sending those options to the peer. Are there technical issues holding up
this code, or would it be reasonable for me to take a stab at getting it to
update DDNS stuff?
