bad_messageid message in inn-2.2.2

I'm running Red Hat Linux 6.1 (+ bits of 6.2).
These messages do not lead me to determining the error, and I've looked
everywhere I can think of, even the FAQ (which raised my hopes for a few
seconds).
I've examined the relevant RFCs and as far as I can see, the message-id is
valid (and does not originate with me in any event; I've got the news from
an IBM site that also uses INN).
