References field in news message format.

I am a user of INN, client side.

It seems that when we are posting a news message
with a fields reference that looks like the following :

"References:" CRLF
SP "<ref1 at foo>" "<ref2 at bar>"

INN just ignore this field and on the newsgroup, the message appears
without "References" field

my INN server is the following :

200 irisa.fr InterNetNews NNRP server INN 2.2 21-Jan-1999 ready (posting 
ok).

This bug cause some problems when we use it for threading.
First, is this bug already fixed in the most recent version ?

One client solution could be to generate a "References" line with at
least one reference on the first line but I think this is not the
solution I like.
