Largefiles support is merged in the 2.4 tree, but I'm not sure it's
ready for production (YMMV).
To use largefiles you need an updated glibc (2.2.x, IIRC) compiled with
2.4 (or patched 2.2) kernel headers.
I never read anything about block devices mmaping, do you know if such a
patch does exist?
