You're wrong ;) Ext2 has supported large files for at least 5 years,
probably more. It's the VFS layer that was limited to 32 bits on
32-bit architectures. The Alpha port, the Alpha being a 64 bit
processor, has had a 64 bit off_t from day one (well, Linus' version
anyway, DEC had an initial 32 bit Alpha port a long long time ago)
