newbie problems with initial setup of INN

Well, you were right, in that I had forgotten to update that file (I had
tried a PULL feed first with the same results), even after I update it, no
joy. I've checked the files in the log directory as well as the syslog, no
useful information appears.

Here's my (new) incoming.conf:
peer ME {
  hostname:         "localhost, 127.0.0.1"
}

peer news-out.cwix.com {
        hostname: "news-out.cwix.com"
}

INN should be logging to the news.crit, news.err, and news.notice files.

Did you configure your incoming.conf to accept articles from them?

This file controls outgoing messages.
