Newbie question: Date header

INN 1.6b3 did not use that header, so you would have to hack it in yourself,
perhaps by borrowing the X-Trace code or lifting it it from a newer version
of nnrpd/post.c

More generally, you should really consider upgrading to a newer version of
INN, either 1.7.2 or the 2.3 series.  INN 1.6 was abandoned in the beta
stage after it became clear that a massive third party patch incorporated
to address a security advisory introduced more subtle bugs than it was
supposed to cure.
