innd 2.3.2 crashing without warning

I've just installed INN 2.3.2 on a RH6.2 system. I built the package
myself, rather than use an RPM of it.

It's a small setup, just a few feeds, a few hundred (low traffic) newsgroups,
and only a few readers, and I'm using tradspool for storage.

innd keeps crashing and coring after random periods. No warning in the logs.
A corefile for innd is left in ~news/spool/articles

What should I do next?
