Overviews Lost

That is odd.  Your configuration looks fine.

Correct.  Overview should never expire while the article still exists.

Can you still access the articles by Message-ID?

It should be summaried in your news.daily report, which you should get via 
email.

You could give the noexpire or noexpireover flags to news.daily, but it 
would be better to really figure out the answer.

You can use $pathbin/makehistory (with the -O flag, check the manpage).

However, you should probably upgrade to 2.3.3 before doing this.  The 
upgrade is not complicated (check the NEWS file to make sure none of the 
changes affect you, then ./configure with the same options as before and 
run `make update`).  There have been reports of problems using makehistory 
with INN 2.3.0 through 2.3.2.
