The error you got indicates that the BerkeleyDB configure script failed
to find a working inter-process mutex.

Did you build the BerkeleyDB yourself?  Compare the configure results
between your 4.3 build and your 4.2 build; specifically, the result
of the "checking for mutexes..." test.

If they're different, try running the 4.3 configure using the option:
'--with-mutex=BLAH' where BLAH is the mutex used by 4.2
