innfeed crashing on Linux

When innfeed crashes, it's often due to an assertion failure.
Unfortunately, assertion failures don't go into syslog.  Instead, they go
to standard error, which means they end up in the news.err log.

Could you check to see if there are any errors in news.err that might
correspond to these crashes?  I'm particularly curious if there are
assertion failures talking about writeBlockedTimerId....
