performance loss with inn 2.5.x (tradspool) ?

Is it possible your filesystem changed from ext3 to ext4, which enables 
write barriers by default?  You can try mounting your spool with 
'barrier=0' to see if the problem goes away.

(This will risk data corruption, but running ext3 without barriers has 
the same problem anyway.)

If you're moving this much news, perhaps it's time to upgrade to CNFS 
anyway?  (Or at least traxindexed.)
