I dont know what he did, but yes, using news2mail with Mailman should be
considered harmfull. Mailman (2 and 3) has its own facility to check for
new messages via nnrp and send them to mailing list subscribers.
There is another supported setup, that is makeing the group a moderated
group and setting the mailman list address and having everything go
through mailman. In this setup mailman can also be used as a moderation
interface. I have only tested this with mailman 2 not with mailman 3.
