Hi Ian,
1. Your understanding is correct except for two points: A NCR will
occur if something changes (such as hostname) during a subsequent
renewal. You can force kea to send a NCR on renewal with the
"ddns-update-on-renew" parameter. There is no way to send ddns
updates upon creation of a reservation. If you want to request such a
feature, you can do so here:

2. You may purchase professional support services if you wish. See
here: https://www.isc.org/support/ There isn't any other support
channel besides the mailing list or professional support services that
is managed by ISC.
