Pardon me for stepping in. I'm newly subscribed, so it's tough to parse your entire convo, but I'm able to see the DORA with this (not quite like the ISC DHCP version, but). I'm unsure if there is a pattern macro to include option 82 info:
{
"name": "kea-dhcp4.leases",
"output_options": [
{
"output": "/var/log/kea/kea-dhcp4-leases.log",
"pattern": "%D{%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S.%q} %-5p [%c/%i.%t] %m\n",
"maxsize": 1048576,
"maxver": 10
}
],
"severity": "DEBUG",
"debuglevel": 55
}
DEBUG [kea-dhcp4.leases] DHCP4_DISCOVER [hwtype=1 REDACTED], cid=[01:REDACTED], tid=0xee23a8f3: server is processing DHCPDISCOVER with hint=REDACTED

Hi Jim,
You cannot get logs for the entire DORA process. You can only get
logs for: "DHCPREQUEST, DHCPDECLINE, and DHCPRELEASE messages, et al.,
and their responses." see:
https://kea.readthedocs.io/en/kea-2.4.1/arm/hooks.html#dhcpv4-log-entries
Responses being DHCPACK and DHCPNAK (though I don't think that it
would log anything on a NAK as that is a negative response). DISCOVER
and OFFER are both ignored as they don't bind anything to the client.
The subsequent REQUEST and ACK is the part of DORA that matters where
address assignment actually takes place. With that in mind, are you
getting the logs you need?
Thank you,
Darren Ankney
