If you want to use botan 1.10.1 with bind10, then 'apt-get install pkg-config' prior to running bind10 configure should fix the problem. It turns out that without pkg-config, bind10 configure fails anyway a little further along. Hopefully your Debian system will behave similarly to Ubuntu Oneiric. Jeff.
I am using an older version of Debian where apt-get won't get the most recent Botan; thus I am building from source.
I strongly believe that BIND10 should support building on systems where everything is taken from source, not distros.
