There is no DHCPRelease

Hi all,
There is something that i dont undestand and i haven't had an answer for it. Hope someone can help me.

As i read in dhclient.c and other files, the DHCP client sends DHCPRelease in 3 cases:
_when it is shut down
_when the server is shut down (but there is something that we have to configure for this option)
_when we enter release_mode. As i understand well, we enter this mode when we use the command: sudo dhclient -r.
I have tried all of these cases, but there is no DHCPRelease. And i think, there is other case where the client sends DHCPRelease, that is when the lease expire. But i dont find it out in the code of dhclient.c. I dont know if i undestand in bad way or if i have some mistakes when playing with the client and the server.

On the other hand, i dont really undestand what the file dhclient.conf, dhclient-script are used for?

Anybody has an idea?
Thanks in advance.
