2.3.1, first article in group not propagated.

I'm running 2.3.1 on Solaris 8 across three different machines which are
forming their own server farm. These machines are our (web-based) forums
servers.

It's rather important that every post on every machine is on every other
machine, too; otherwise threading breaks nastily and the users get upset,
particularly when a post is visible on one webserver (which is hitting a
particular forum server), but not another one (which is hitting one of the
others).

I'm finding something odd, though: the first post to any given server in a
new group is sometimes (I don't *think* always, although I've not checked
exhaustively) not being propagated out to the other two machines. This
means that users are often either seeing an empty topic, or one with two
or more first articles in it - very confusing.

Has anyone else seen this? I've checked the mail archives and couldn't
spot anything likely, and I've downloaded 2.3.2 and read through the
changelog; nothing mentioned in it that looks relevant. Anyone any ideas
how to work around it? I've not installed 2.3.2 yet (or, indeed, compiled
it) as upgrading things on a Friday afternoon is a Bad Idea (tm)...

Thanks.
